south music park man!

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

although maybe not the best idea ever, i offered to create a background for the upcoming music man show. it turned out that the printer needed an adobe illustrator file with certain dimensions. now, i haven’t used illustrator in forever, being more of a photoshopper. last night, i realized how different the two programs were, and how steep the learning curve could be to learn the illustrator side of it. but, nevertheless, i spent the better part of tonight working through it. best case, i created something we could send to the printer. worst case, we pay an extra few hundred bucks to get a stock image of sufficient resolution, etc. so, i went ahead and created a simple background with basic shapes and colors to recreate the scene kerri needed. about half-way through, i realized that a 2D image and the colors i was choosing had a very south park feel, but i think it conveyed what we were looking for to provide a background for the show.

farewell, donnie!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

tonight was the last game for the nhl referee Don Koharski. of course, anyone that knows me that hockey is probably my fourth most favorite thing on the planet. one of the all-time great refs worked his final game (a tampa (stupid!) loss to washington (cheaters!)) tonight after something like 32 years in the nhl. amazing.

don, i don’t blame you for the tampa loss tonight, even though all the other refs wore your number and made some questionable calls (not really, tampa just got outplayed).

have another donut, don.
