weekend shots

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

i actually did some shooting this weekend, much to my enjoyment.

yesterday i wanted to play around with lighting a white seamless background. since i didn’t have a model (or a way to trigger the shutter release wirelessly with the new camera), i used a boxing glove.

lighting practice - no background lights lighting practice - no subject light lighting practice - foreground and background lighting practice - green lighting practice - dark red lighting practice - red lighting practice - blue lighting practice - dark blue lighting practice - dark gray lighting practice - light gray

the first three are with the white seamless. first with the subject lit but not the background, then the background without the foreground, and finally both the subject and background lit. the other shots are of a gelled strobe hitting a gray background with the same lighting on the glove itself.

this morning, i took some shots of the flowers i got kerri for her birthday. i still used the three strobes, but had two on the subject, and one hitting the background to provide the halo effect.

website changes

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

i’m moving things around a bit on the website. you may have already noticed if you went to blog.kettlepot.com and came here, or if you came here looking for pictures and found the blog. i’ve decided to make the kettlepot sites my blog, and will be moving my photography work to a new site. i want to get more serious with the photography this year, and part of that is having a more deficated portfolio site. technically, the kettlepot site will still be my photoblog as well, and i will be dropping new shots and comments in here, as well. in a sense, it’s now a one-stop shop.

once i figure out what domain name i want to use for the photography site, i’ll link it, as well.
